Delhi House Café
The Brief
Delhi House Café, located in Manchester’s Corn Exchange, was envisioned as a destination that captures the vibrancy of modern Delhi and the raw energy of industrial Manchester. The Lamba family wanted a space that celebrates contemporary Indian culture while staying rooted in heritage.
Design Metric was appointed to create an interior that fuses urban sophistication with rustic warmth—an experience that tells a story through colour, texture, and atmosphere.

The Concept
The design draws upon Delhi’s street culture, art, and craftsmanship while embracing Manchester’s raw industrial materials. A palette of deep weathered browns, brick, reclaimed timber, and warm metallics sets the tone—refined yet authentic.
Custom carriageway seating, first visualised in SketchUp, anchors the main dining area. The contrast between textured wallpapers, rustic finishes, and contemporary furniture establishes a rich balance of old and new.
The Outcome
The completed design delivers an immersive, soulful space where every element tells a story. The finished carriageway seating frames the restaurant’s heart—an intimate yet open setting that invites conversation.
Lighting and material selection evoke warmth, craftsmanship, and an atmosphere that feels lived-in but elevated. The Delhi House Café now stands as a landmark restaurant that reflects both India’s spirit and Manchester’s creative grit.
